Pioneer Chicago livestock dealer John Adams established a business at the Myrick House, the city’s first stock yards, in 1861.
Originally from the market town of Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, England, Adams moved to Milwaukee before settling in Chicago. His firm—later Adams, Eldredge & Jackson—became John Adams & Sons when his children joined the business.
