James Ironside Davidson | Inducted by 1915

Canadian parliament member and famed Shorthorn cattle and Clydesdale horse importer/breeder.

Impact & Accomplishments


Born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, James Ironside Davidson immigrated to Ontario, Canada, in 1842.


He established a farm with a small investment and began to import Cruikshank Shorthorns in 1871, bringing many Scottish cattle to North America. Davidson was the principal Sittyton importer until the health quarantine of 1886, and at that time, he shifted his interests to Clydesdale horses.


Davidson served a brief time in the Canadian House of Commons, 1891-1892.
